WSA Player Pathway
Fun Of Soccer
Learning the basics of soccer in the most fun way possible. This is not a team program - kids will work on individual skills appropriate for their age level through small group activities, mixed gender and games led by WSA professional trainers assisted by parent volunteers.
U7 and U8 Rec
The focus of the program will be on the development of each players’ individual ball skills. Through training we will encourage players to become more assertive on the ball, improving their ability to dribble and overall decision making. And most importantly of all, we want to make sure that those who do participate are given the opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer!
U8 Academy
The U8 Academy program is open to players who are serious about mastering and developing their soccer skills in a more competitive environment. The program is designed to inspire young players to learn and develop a passion for the game of soccer.

U9 Rec
The purpose of the U9 program is to develop basic skills and to teach the fundamentals of the game in an environment that is conducive to learning. Children are placed into teams by gender and age. Teams will train on Saturdays for about 75 minutes and will play games on Sundays. This provides an opportunity for players to get used to games with throw ins, corner kicks, referees, etc. in advance of programs such as Intercounty.
Intercounty
The WSA Intercounty program is for players who are interested in playing recreational soccer beyond the in-town rec program. Annually, more than 400 players represent the WSA in the Suburban Youth Soccer League (see the SYSL league’s website at www.syslnj.com). Intercounty teams provide the opportunity to play in the fall and in the spring against teams from nearby towns. The towns/clubs represented in the past have included Berkeley Heights, Bound Brook, Clark, Colonia, Cranford, Edison, Mountainside, New Providence, Plainfield, Rahway, Roselle, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains, Springfield, Summit, and Westfield.

Travel Program
The WSA travel program is for players who are interested in playing soccer at a more competitive level than the In-town or Intercounty programs. Annually, more than 450 players on over thirty teams represent the WSA in several leagues, with the majority of teams competing in the Mid New Jersey Youth Soccer Association League. Travel teams play in the Fall and Spring against teams from Central New Jersey and in addition, many teams also participate in holiday tournaments several times a season. Travel players practice three days a week and compete on Sundays.

UCFC
Union County Football Club was formed in 2001 to provide the most talented and committed soccer players in Union County and the surrounding areas to play at the highest level possible. Teams are made up of players from Union, Middlesex, Somerset, Morris, Essex County and more. Through quality training and high level competition we aim to develop our soccer players both on and off the field to prepare them for high school, college and beyond.
